In December, 1971, my sister took a most challenging bus trip from southern Ontario to St. Petersburg, Florida, with her 4 kids in tow, to spend the holidays with her parents & me, her younger brother. I don’t believe that either she or any of the kids had ever been south of Cleveland, so this was quite an adventure for them all. & it was FLORIDA, quite an attraction in those days before the countless insurmountable unique problems descended upon it to make it the Devil’s favorite place to send the worst offenders who deserve more than hell itself. I’ve heard he sends many to Texas as well. I’m sure we can all think of a long list of psychopathic politicians who qualify, & I wish the Devil would get on with his task. Possible new nicknames for these 2 states, by the way, may be “The Lone Braincell State” for Texas & “The Sargasso State” for Florida. The 2 oldest kids being 16 & 15 were responsible & more helpful than they were a burden to my sister, so the trip wasn’t a total fiasco, but it was still quite an experience. The distance is 1370 miles (2200 km) & is made with no overnight stops & only short meal breaks along the highway. It takes over 20 hours & has…
